A quick take on Syracuse's dominant 105-57 win against Eastern Michigan Monday night at the Dome:

WHAT HAPPENED: In welcoming old friend Rob Murphy back to campus, the one time Jim Boeheim assistant (2004-11), who is amazingly now in his sixth year guiding the EMU program, saw the Orange offense blitz from the opening tip in the bounce back victory.

The 'Cuse (7-4) shot nearly 60% overall in the first half scoring 52 points, and led by over 40 points on several occasions in the second half, and demonstrated offensive balance - all eight Orange scholarship players scored in double figures led by freshman Tyus Battle's 18 points. >> Read more at The Juice

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Syracuse coach Dino Babers remembers how Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson ran, threw and even leapt over the Orange last season.

Jackson's hurdle of a Syracuse defender for a touchdown was an indelible image during a 62-28 victory that paved his way toward winning the Heisman Trophy. The Orange want to prevent him from wreaking similar havoc on Saturday in another signature performance.

"He ran all over us, and he threw all over us," Babers said. "He got both parts in last year and hopefully he doesn't get both parts in this year to the degree he did last year."

Coach Jim Boeheim's Syracuse Orange overwhelmed Cornell 77-45 Friday night in the season opener for both teams and son Jimmy Boeheim scored 11 points in his collegiate debut for the opposing Big Red.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Jim Boeheim has pretty much experienced everything during his long coaching tenure at Syracuse - Big East titles, Final Fours, a national championship, NCAA investigations and Hall of Fame induction.

And yet, as he begins season No. 42 at his alma mater, Boeheim is about to experience something new. The toddler he once brought to shoot at a toy basket during a preseason media day will be on the opposing team when the Orange open their season against Cornell on Friday night.

Oldest son Jimmy Boeheim is a freshman forward for the Big Red.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) One streak should thankfully come to an end for Syracuse or Florida State on Saturday.

The Orange (4-4, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) are winless on the road this season and have lost five straight dating back to last season. The Seminoles (2-5, 2-4) have lost their first three home games for the first time in 43 years and are 3-5 at Doak Campbell Stadium. Before the recent losses, the Seminoles had won 22 in a row at home.

Syracuse, which had its bye last week, enters the game with momentum. It defeated sixth-ranked Clemson on Oct. 13 and was within one point at No. 9 Miami in the fourth quarter before losing 27-19.

Syracuse coach Dino Babers hasn't enjoyed reviewing tape of last year's game at Pittsburgh, and for good reason.

The Orange were on the short end of a 76-61 loss at Heinz Field . The 2016 season finale was the highest-scoring regular-season game in FBS history as both teams combined for 1,312 yards of total offense and a record 20 touchdowns.

Not so easy to forget.

"I've never been through something like that before. You really didn't have time to think. It took your breath away and you were totally exhausted after the game," Babers said. "I was exhausted with the loss and the other guy (Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi) was exhausted with the win.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) LSU coach Ed Orgeron has been apologizing for seemingly an entire week.

On the heels of 37-7 loss to Mississippi State, Orgeron has been taking the blame and emphasizing to fellow Louisiana natives that he feels their disappointment. He's also pledged to turn things around against Syracuse in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.

"I definitely get it. I understand the expectations at LSU. That was a bad performance. I totally take the blame. I'm going to get this team right," said Orgeron, who is in his first full season on the job. "This is not LSU football. That's not what we came here for, but we're going to get it fixed."

Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim said he will be guiding the Orange for "five or six more years" on Friday at the program's annual 'Cuse Awards earlier this week.

"I hope everybody's having a great year," Boeheim said, according to SB Nation's Nunes Magician. "I didn't. Normally when you lose your last game, you're really upset. Not so much when you're in the NIT. Not only did we lose the last game, but then I find out I've gotta coach for five or six more years."

Boeheim just completed his 41st season as head coach at his alma mater. He ranks second all-time among Division I coaches in victories with 903, trailing only Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
