Wide receiver Percy Harvin has a low-ankle sprain after his X-rays came back negative on Monday (ESPN, December 8).

Harvin was injured in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter of the Jets 30-24 loss against the Minnesota Vikings - arguably his best game since being traded from the Seattle Seahawks with five catches for 124 yards and a touchdown.

He was in a walking boot Monday after the good news that it wasn't a high-ankle sprain, which usually takes several weeks of recovery.

The Least You Should Know?

[sny-box]Geno Smith was benched at the start of the second half in favor of Matt Simms. ?Through the first half, Geno Smith was 4/10 for 29 yards with one interception. ?Worse, the team had only two first downs through thirty minutes and each time he left the field, boos rained down from an increasingly impatient crowd.

The Jets took a little excursion tonight in Buffalo before the team's game against the Bills at 1PM tomorrow. ?Per Brian Costello of the New York Post, coach Rex Ryan pulled a Frank Reynolds and took out his guys for steaks and skeeball at the Buffalo Dave & Buster's.

According to a source, Rex Ryan canceled the team?s normal pregame offensive and defensive meetings and the team went to ?Dave & Buster?s,? the chain arcade/restaurant a few miles from the team?s hotel.

It is highly unusual for a team to skip their preparation the night before a game and could be perceived as a lack of respect for the Bills. Ryan still conducted the full team meeting where he gives his motivational talk, but the team skipped its final game-planning sessions.

So far, it looks like just two teams might be in the mix for Ed Reed and both are in the AFC East.

Team: New York JetsRumor: Yesterday, Rex Ryan told reporters he'd like Reed on his team, but there was an understanding that maybe Idzik wasn't on board -- at least for a waiver claim. ?Now that he's cleared waivers? ?Sounds like the Jets are more interested.

Brooks Bollinger, Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff, Erik Ainge, Kevin O'Connell, Greg McElroy ... the list of young quarterbacks that the Jets have brought through to try to retain the backup quarterback over the last ten years is long, but those who have stuck with the team for more than two or three years is rather short.

Current backup Matt Simms might not take snaps most Sundays, but his role during the week as the team's scout team quarterback is helping Simms come along rather quickly. That, along with some mechanics that Jets QB coach David Lee told Simms to work on back in June, wrote JP Pelzman over the weekend for the Bergen Record.

In June, quarterbacks coach David Lee complimented Simms for his "cannon" of a throwing arm, but said he needed to improve his accuracy. Lee has been very impressed with Simms' progress since then.
