A group of Jets fans have purchased 12 billboards across New Jersey that make light of the recently suspended Tom Brady (Walder, May 13).

The billboards make reference to Brady as "#TomShady" with the famous "J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!" chant below.

?Jets fans are very opinionated,? said Carly Zipp, the communications director for Outfront Media who own the electronic billboards. ?Because billboards are something that is seen by everyone, they knew the power of message and they wanted to it get it out.?

Tom Brady is heading to the Hall of Fame, but this week there was a fear he may be headed to the injured list. This year the Patriots can least afford to lose Brady, who is in the throes of braking in a new gaggle of receivers.

Back in 2008, Brady was injured on opening day and missed the remainder of the season with torn ligaments in his left knee. The Pats went 11-5 behind backup Matt Cassel. So much for the "MVP" of the team!

This version of the 9-7 Giants didn't translate into a Super Bowl-bound time.

As the media gathers in New Orleans, New York Giants players are watching from their couches as a new king of the football world is crowned on Sunday.

Owner John Mara and GM Jerry Reese expressed their dismay with the team missing out on the playoffs this season. Obviously, change is on the horizon.

By now, you know the story. Two Augusts ago, Eli Manning told ESPN Radio in New York he believed he was an elite quarterback, in the same class as Tom-freaking-Brady.

When all of the naysayers laughed and made jokes at his expense, what did Manning do -- he went out and led the Giants' Super Bowl charge. Poetically, he had to beat Tom Brady's Patriots twice in the process.

When it was all said and done, Manning was unanimously proclaimed elite by broadcasters, players and analysts alike. Suddenly, that joke back in August wasn't so funny.

New England QB Tom Brady said he wanted the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win it. That's just what he got last night, except he had envisioned a different outcome.

?We got to the 50 (yard line) and just ran out of time," Brady said after the game. "We threw a hail-mary at the end. I?m not sure how close we were to getting it. Obviously I wish we could have done a little bit more.?

Joe Montana was on Dan Patrick's show yesterday and was grilled on several topics such as which current offensive system he'd like to play in and which of the league's current QBs he preferred. Montana chose Tom Brady, who can tie him and Terry Bradshaw for Super Bowl wins by a QB (4) by beating the Giants Sunday.

Montana made no mention of the Giants at all and it's no wonder. The 49ers may have been the team of the 80's, but let's not forget the Giants defeated the Niners three times in the playoffs during that decade (including 1990), knocking Montana out of two of those games.

The Giants know what they need to do vs the Patriots this Sunday: get to Tom Brady. DE Justin Tuck made a snake analogy last week...something about cutting off it's head and the rest dies...if it were only that simple....maybe it is...

?I would say that it is all on us really," said All-Pro DE Jason Pierre-Paul. "It is all on the front line, the front four of the D-line, and also on the offensive line too. It is going to be all on the line in this game, and we know it. We?ve just got to get the job done. If guys are hurt, and they get hurt during the game, this is the last game. You?ve just got to tighten-up, you can?t feel sorry for yourself, and get the job done.?

Between 2003 and 2009, Indianapolis Colts fans watched their team produce an NFL-record seven straight seasons with at least twelve regular season victories, a Super Bowl victory, two Super Bowl appearances, three conference title game appearances, and four league MVP?s for future hall of fame quarterback Peyton Manning.

The second of those two Super Bowl visits came just two years ago, and although the 12-win streak ended last season, the Colts still made the playoffs for a ninth consecutive season.

Giants

Where to begin with Eli Manning? The guy has been this team's MVP, hands down, and his development from just one season ago is incredible. He set the NFL record with 15 fourth quarter touchdowns, and has carried his offense with his clutch play. What has become Manning's calling card is his ability to extend plays by sliding around in the pocket, avoiding sacks and finding an open receiver. Whereas in past seasons, fans would cringe when Eli flicked a dump off pass to a running back while in the clutches of an opposing lineman, now it's just one of many ways that Eli has raised his game. He may never truly be in a class with Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Tom Brady, but there's no shame in that. He's the best quarterback this franchise has ever seen, and that's pretty damn special.

Patriots' coach Bill Belichick know a few things about great defenses having been in the Giants' DC during Lawrence Taylor's heyday. Yesterday, he held nothing back when talking about the Giants' current pass-rushers: Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck, Dave Tollefson, Mathias Kiwanuka and the rising Jason Pierre-Paul..

"Most times a team may have one player that is the caliber of a rusher that you have to game plan for but the Giants have about five of them. They have so many guys and they are all very good. They have great speed and athleticism, great pass rush technique, they get off on the ball well, they are a hard group to block. Perry does a good job of scheming and putting them in different positions so you don?t know where Pierre-Paul is going to be or Tuck or Kiwanuka. Sometimes it is hard to find them and it is hard to block them so they present a huge challenge just in their depth, quality and speed. It is as good of a group as I have seen in a long time."

Let's face it: the Patriots are tough team to beat. But right now, the Jets need to win. This is a "statement" game if there ever was one. Faced with the possibility of a 3-game losing streak, winning this game win bring the Jets to 3-2 and quiet the growing murmurs of doubt about them around the league. How can they do that against the #1 overall offense in the league? Here are a couple of ways:

An Offensive Resurgence

I imagine this an obvious point by now but it's still one worth making. The Jets offensive line has been downright horrible in the past two weeks and the offense has suffered tremendously. Now, with the return of Mangold, it's time to get back on track. The Jets will need to work fast, rushing often against the Patriots and exploiting their woeful pass defense. Considering how many points the Patriots can score, if the Jets can't get a lot of points onto the scoreboard quickly, this will be a major disaster.

Will the (Pats') starters get one more chance to tune up against a live opponent Thursday night against the New York Giants, who are coming off a Monday night loss to the Jets?

?I hope to go out there and play, and play as much as they?ll let me,? quarterback Tom Brady said on WEEI this week. ?I want to get out there and for us to really start stringing some good plays together, good drives together before the games do start counting. So, if it?s up to me, I?m playing a lot.?

The New York Jets don?t just talk trash like some teams. No, for them, it?s done in such a bold and brash manner, it?s more like ?brash-talking.?

And, when you do as much ?brash-talking? as the New York Jets have done, it sometimes takes shocking the football world to back it up.

The Jets (13-5) did just that on Sunday, with the biggest turnaround (49 points) from the regular season to the postseason, against the same opponent, in the same year, in NFL history.
