Dating back to the draft of 2009, I spent many a moment thinking about the Knicks drafting UCLA's Jrue Holiday. Having learned how infatuated Donnie Walsh and the Knicks were with Russell Westbrook the year before, Holiday had similar qualities and came from a pro system under Ben Howland that seemed to be the right fit at the time.
Fast forward almost eight years later and Jrue's brother Justin, also a fellow Pac-10 star having played at Washington, is coming off the bench for the Knicks and providing a ton of value for Jeff Hornacek's second unit. Not bad for a guy widely considered, including here, a simple throw in to the Derrick Rose blockbuster.
Phil Jackson receives a ton of flak for the money he's spent on Joakim Noah, but he gets literally zero credit for the lower-priced value he's brought to New York, and Holiday may be the best of the bunch.
