GEICO SportsNite: Knicks' loss 00:01:06
Jeff Hornacek, Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose reflect on the Knicks' heartbreaking last-second loss to the Toronto Raptors.

DeMar DeRozan made a turnaround jumper with 1.9 seconds remaining, finishing with 37 points and leading the Toronto Raptors to a 92-91 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday night.

The Raptors won their fourth in a row, doing it with DeRozan and defense after learning earlier in the day that All-Star Kyle Lowry will have right wrist surgery that could sideline him the rest of the regular season.

Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points for the Knicks, but finished a 9-for-26 night when he missed a long jumper as time expired.

The Nets are on an eight-game losing streak and an 11-game home losing streak. The Nets have been more competitive in this skid than their 11-game slide, as six of their defeats are by single digits.

The culprit is how things unfold in the fourth quarter, especially in the last two games. In the five single digit losses, excluding last week in Cleveland, Brooklyn has been outscored by 42 points in the final 12 minutes.

Over the weekend, the Toronto Raptors experienced a firsthand look at the poor state of basketball in New York.

Of course, the Raptors are not concerned with the dysfunction of the New York Knicks or the multitude problems plaguing the Brooklyn Nets.

Their focus is getting a win and Toronto will get another chance to beat the Nets on Tuesday night when the teams meet in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Toronto Raptors will enter the postseason as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference after accomplishing what they set out to do: improve defensively and win a third straight Atlantic Division title.

The Brooklyn Nets' run of three playoff appearances since relocating will end following their worst season since playing in New Jersey.

With nothing left to play for, Toronto concludes the regular season Wednesday night against a Brooklyn team that will finish with one of the worst records in the NBA but won't have its first-round pick in June.

DeRozan finished with 27 points as the Raptors pulled within two games of Cleveland with two to play for both teams. Toronto won the season series and owns the tiebreaker if the teams finish with the same record.

Kyle Lowry scored 15 points and Jonas Valanciunas had 14 for the Raptors, who set a franchise record with their 23rd road victory.

Jonas Valanciunas added 20 points for the Raptors, who won so easily that Knicks interim coach Kurt Rambis changed his mind in the final minutes of the blowout and inserted Jimmer Fredette.

Just signed to a 10-day contract, the former college player of the year made a 3-pointer on his lone shot attempt - about the only thing Knicks fans had to cheer during the team's 12th loss in 14 games.

Tonight, the Nets take their NBA-best five-game winning streak north of the border, when they play the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre. It should be a good game between two Atlantic division rivals who have started to play much better basketball of late after slow starts to their respective seasons.

The division-leading Raptors have won six of their last eight games, and 10 of their last 15, coinciding with the trade of veteran Rudy Gay and promotion of second-year man Terrence Ross into the starting lineup. Toronto has now reached the .500 mark at 17-17, and enter tonight with a three-game lead over second-place Brooklyn.

The Nets beat the Raptors in their one previous meeting this season back on November 26 in Toronto, a game in which Andray Blatche scored 24 points and the Nets shot 50.6% from the field as a team. Brooklyn has won four of the last five meetings overall between the two teams, but they're only 14-21 in Toronto all-time.

On Wednesday night, the Brooklyn Nets beat the Toronto Raptors by the final score of 94-88 in Toronto.

The Skinny: The Nets started the game with the same lineup as the previous two games with Reggie Evans starting at power forward in place of Kris Humphries. The start of the game was sluggish for the Nets as they turned the ball over on three of their first five possessions and had six turnovers total in the opening quarter which allowed the Raptors easy buckets inside. The Raptors had eight assists on their first eight baskets of the game. Ed Davis had 10 points and five rebounds while Jonas Valanciunas was active in the middle with 9 points for the Raptors. Deron Williams led the Nets with 5 points and quickly the Nets were behind 27-20 after one quarter.

Avery Johnson began second quarter with Mirza Teletovic in for Evans to try and get some offense flowing along with the normal second unit other than Joe Johnson. The Raptors rarely had to run an offensive set as the Nets were giving the ball away for fast break dunks with 10 turnovers in the first 17 minutes of the game. Teletovic could not hit a shot so Johnson went deeper to the bench and had Keith Bogans come in for the turnover prone MarShon Brooks while Williams re-entered for Teletovic. The Raptors went zone and increased the lead to as many as ten points at 39-29 late in the second. Valanciunas had 13 first half points for the Raptors. The Nets never put together a significant run and shot a morbid 36 percent while turning it over 11 times to fall behind the 45-37 at half.
