Marvin: Why does it seem like the Rangers are only interested in Nash? Wouldn't it be a cheaper move to get Smyth from? Edmonton or Selanne from the Mighty Ducks. And what about Bobby Ryan? I thought they loved him.

Adam: In regards to the two players on the Ducks, Selanne has said that he doesn't want to get traded and Ryan appears to be off the market, for now, since the team is making a big run towards the playoffs.

Bruce Garrioch wrote in the Ottawa Sun that teams seem to have given up hope about Selanne waiving his no-move clause.

In the Wall Street Journal, Mike Sielski says that the Rangers need to use the next two weeks to ask and answer the following questions:

In some ways, their excellence this season makes it harder for them to answer the two key questions for any team at any trade deadline: Should we make a move, and if so, what move should we make?
Sielski says that Mike Milbury thinks the Rangers should look to acquire another goal scorer as long as it doesn't come at the cost of one of the good young players.

Stu Hackel wrote at SI Red Light that the Rangers should look to add a tough veteran scorer, like Ryan Smyth, and while it would be a mistake to tamper with the chemistry, he says that the Rangers have a lot of prospects they could deal.

In his chat at ESPN.com, Pierre LeBrun says that the Rangers covet two things as they try to shape their team for a playoff run.

LeBrun says that one is a top-six forward and that the other is a defenseman for the PP.

I would imagine that the defenseman would be of the Bryan McCabe big shooter variety that they tried last season. Brad Richards can PP a power play from the left point and John Tortorella has started to use Dan Girardi on the right point.
