Ellis Lankster is questionable with this jaw deal. He did not practice. (He) still couldn?t put a helmet on, so I don?t know, but it?s hard to play if you can?t put a helmet on. I don?t know. I guess we?ll see. Game-time decision, ?Ohh, okay, he?s good,? (joking), but obviously he has to go through the pain and all that type of stuff. So hopefully his pain subsides and he?ll be able to play. I know he?s certainly trying. Everybody else is probable on that list and everybody else practiced full, except for, it looks like Cro (Antonio Cromartie) was limited with his hip, but everybody should play. Winslow with a knee and illness, but he was there today. I expect everybody up and ready to play.

On playing in warm weather in December?

It was great weather today. We were talking about it when we came out in pregame warm-ups just how great it felt out today, so it was pretty good.

On what he was personally playing for today?

Personally, we were playing for wins. That?s every single week, we go out and try to get a victory. That?s the reason we prepared the way we did throughout the week. That was our goal as a team coming into this game.

Opening statement?

Again as always, you watch the tape and maybe not everything jumps out at you like you thought after the game, but for the most part, it?s not surprising, (and) you pretty much have the idea after the game. I think that was the case (here). Some individuals absolutely had tremendous games and then there?s others that never played quite as well. (The) challenge to our guys is, are (you) doing what we?re asking you to do? In this league, no matter who you are, no matter how good you are, you?re going to get beat physically in this league. It happens. It?s not something you except, you step right back up and you take that challenge again, but that does happen. Are our mistakes physical or are some mental? Is (it) something that?s, why we?re not doing exactly what we?re asking you to do and that?s the challenge to the team that I put out. And then as a coach too, put your guys in position to be successful and that?s always going to be the thing that you look for. The other thing you do is you get out there and you do the corrections and you can?t move forward unless you correct some of the mistakes that were made and that?s what we did today. And that?s what it?s always about, win or lose.

We got guys in here, once again, as we do every week. Everyone is coming in with the same mentality, that?s to get better. We were very hard on ourselves today, as an offense and as a team. We looked at things to improve on and we?re going out and practicing with the same mentality as we always do, to get better and to improve.

On his frustration level?

(I am) just frustrated that we couldn?t come out with the victory. I don?t have anything to say about anything else other than the fact that we didn?t get it done today on offense or as a team. We couldn?t get a victory and that?s very frustrating for me as a quarterback.

On how to fix the problems moving forward?

There?s definitely a sense of urgency now. You recognize there are four games left and we recognize the challenge that?s before us, but all we can do is just keep our heads down and grind right now and focus on our work. We can?t allow outside influences to affect us right now and we?ll just continue to focus on the prize, which is to win a game.

On how difficult this loss was?

It is (difficult), but it?s going to help us because we?ll be able to see where we?re making errors and hopefully we?ll improve upon it before next week.

No.? I think the biggest thing for us is that we just have to do our job.? Opening statement?

They always say, ?Well, it?s never as good and never as bad as what you think.? That was pretty close, though, to being about as bad as I remember. Then there were some things that we did really well and I think this team is a lot closer than it might appear to being a decent football team because there are some things that we?re doing in a lot of areas that are pretty impressive. With that being said, there are other areas where we still have to improve, like more than a little bit. That?s a challenge. That?s where we?re working. And obviously, as we say, you have five weeks left in the season, it?s all about Miami and that?s where we?re at. It seems like I?ve said the same thing the last couple of weeks, but that?s where the focus is and certainly we have to get better. The mistakes we made, they?re not on one person. Offensively, as it always does, it seems like as we talk about Geno (Smith) all the time, the stats are out there for the public awareness, I guess. Here are the facts, he was nine-for-(22), but it doesn?t paint the whole picture and it?s certainly not on one guy. When you look at the numbers, (and say), ?Boy, that guy really struggled.? But there?s a reason. Some of it is protections. Some of it is dropping the football. Some of it is a poor throw. Some of it?s not running a precise route. There are a lot of factors that (are) involved in it. Defensively, it?s getting the ball thrown over our heads, but there?s times where we?re just flat not making the play down the field. We had a couple passes right in our hands (and) we dropped them on defense. Hopefully, that will change and hopefully it changes in a hurry.

On if Buffalo is vulnerable due to their injuries?

They still have a good running back duo, which is our number one goal to stop. Stop the run. They have some playmakers. Obviously, it?s going to be tough for them if they are without (Robert) Woods or (Stevie) Johnson if they don?t play ? I don?t know their status. They have a guy who has world class speed, they have some pieces that we are not aware of, or certain guys that cause trouble. If we stop the run, either way it will make our day a lot easier.

I guess the first order of business is I know we?re reaching out to our fans, trying to have all our fans wear green for the game, so a Green Out if you will. I look at it as a sea of green so the Patriots get to see that. We?d like to have our fans wear green for this game if they wouldn?t mind. It would be fantastic (to) support us that way. As far as how practice went, I thought it was outstanding. Today was a great practice. You can tell the tempo?s up, the focus is up, and it has to be. It?s sometimes tough to prepare for the no-huddle and all that that we get from New England, but we?re doing our best to do that, get prepared for it. I like the fact we?ve seen them. This will be our second time. It?s not like it?s a surprise, but if you haven?t seen it the first time, I think if they want to be, they?re probably as fast as anybody even in the league so we have to be prepared for that. I think we?ve done a good job so far. Injuries ? Santonio Holmes with his hamstring and foot, obviously did not practice today. Neither did the new kid, (Greg) Salas with his knee. Guys that were limited, Kyle Wilson was limited today. He was non-contact. He was wearing the red jersey so he was non-contact. Dee Milliner, hamstring and David Nelson, hamstring, were also limited today in practice. Everybody else (is) ready to roll.

Opening statement?

This was a very disappointing game ? not just for ourselves, but for our fans. This was the first time we have been beaten at home this season. Give credit to Pittsburgh. They came out and played exactly how we thought they would. We knew they?d be fresh and flying around, and they were. Mike Tomlin does a great job with that team. They outplayed us. We have to play with more consistency. They beat us in the areas we thought were the most important going into the game, and those were turnovers and runs and completions. They forced two (turnovers) in the red zone, and we couldn?t get a takeaway on defense, which was frustrating. They won the runs and completions battle. When you do that, you?re going to win a lot of games. Unfortunately for us, we lost both of those areas, and the proof is in the pudding.

On not being able to find a rhythm on offense?

Sometimes, you have to credit the defense. Their defense is outstanding. It?s consistent and (has) played that way for 15 years. We knew that we?d have to be patient. It wasn?t going to come easy, but you have to give them credit. Obviously, they did a better job of executing than we did.

On his first interception?

I wish I could take back the throw. It was an attempted throw-away and the guy who I least expected to even get over there and make the play got over there. That?s not to make an excuse. It can?t happen. We?ve said that time and time again, especially in the red zone or in critical situations. Those can?t happen and we were beat by a team that was better than us today.

On how much not having Kellen Winslow and Santonio Holmes affected the offensive game plan?

I think for the most part we were able to move the ball. Coming into this game we expected (it) to be a grind-it-out kind of game. Their record doesn?t indicate the type of team they are. They have a great, smart defense and they came out and played smart today. We can?t talk about the guys that we don?t have. All we can do is use the guys that we do have and allow them to step up and I think for the most part they did. Aside from a few plays here and there, we did a pretty decent job moving the ball but we didn?t get it done overall.

The knee didn?t affect anything at all. It was just me (needing to have) better technique on that one play and that?s it.

On if he was fooled by the play-fake on the third and one play that went for a touchdown?

No, we were in cover zero. I?m not even worrying about a play-fake. I?m thinking more of a quick gain because of the cover zero that we were in. Thinking about coming in a little quicker but, then they had enough time to get a ball down the field.

On what went wrong today?

Execution is always going to be important. If you?re deep in the red zone and the ball gets turned over, that?s going to be an issue. If there (are) penalties, that?s going to be an issue. If there are missed assignments, that?s going to be an issue. I think all of that played a role today and unfortunately, that led to our loss.

On what they can learn from the loss?

Well, nobody likes losing. We haven?t watched the tape yet, but we know, even without watching the tape, that there were things that didn?t go according to plan. Like I mentioned, penalties, turnovers, missed assignments. All of those things play into the loss.

(We had a) good practice today. Geno (Smith) was very accurate with the football, so that usually is the makings of a good practice and guys are flying around and I think we?re pretty healthy. But he?s feeling a lot better. Oday also did not practice, Oday Aboushi. He will not play. Everybody else is probable for the game. Quinton Coples was limited but all these guys are probable ? Quinton Coples, Kenrick Ellis, Santonio Holmes, those guys were limited today but they?re all probable. I think?tomorrow?should be a better day and we?ll be ready to roll. As far as guys that did not practice today, we have: Oday (Aboushi) is out with knee, did not practice. Quinton Coples with his ankle. Santonio Holmes with his foot. Both those things, (it) wasn?t like they had a setback. Those days were planned by our training staff. ?Opening Statement?

That last ballgame I was proud of the guys. This team I think we talked about before, this team?s got some guts. (I?m) proud of the guys. We?ve got a heck of a staff regarding position coaches. Mike Devlin has done just a heck of a job with that line and we rely on that line. He?s a heck of a coach. Sanjay (Lal) has done a heck of a job with that receiving group. And they had a rough one the game before and then they came back and had a heck of a game. We had some players making plays time after time and then Bilal (Powell) sure had a great game. He?s breaking tackles and making guys miss. Now, I want to make it crystal clear that we?ve got a lot of hard work to do to get to where we want to be. There?s just no question about that. I?m sure you all saw the game. So, there we go. (There?s) a lot of hard work left. We?ve got to clean several things up. We?ve got to tighten a couple other things up. And then here we go. We?ve got a great opportunity on the road to get some business done that way. It?s also a great challenge. I will tell you, this Tennessee team, its defense, well, they?re a top 10 defense in many categories. I believe their seventh overall in many of the categories or top 10. They?re very fast at the linebacker spot ? all of them can run. (I) coached against a couple of them. Their defensive front is just excellent and then (they?re) very aggressive in the secondary, so we?ve got, certainly, a great challenge and a lot of preparation and hard work left to do. It?s?Thursday?so our preparation has to be at an all-time high.

Opening Statement?

Today (was a) good practice I thought. When you move on, nice warm weather out there, so it was good to get through it, push through it. During (team) periods we started doing like 10 straight plays offense, 10 straight plays defense trying to work some conditions, which (was) a little different and then we had 30 pushups today. It is crazy, when you look at the total pushups. Obviously we?re 32nd in the league, probably closer to 33rd?(in penalties) if that was possible and it?s just not us. That is not who we are, so we?re trying to fix it and we will fix it. I think we we?re fourth in the league in that last year in that and it?s something that?s been addressed as you guys know. Today, I thought the practice was good. It was pretty good tempo and when you put in new things, offense, defense, sometimes it?s a slower day, but they?re very few repeats, so that?s a good sign. With the injuries, we had guys that did not practice today: Oday Aboushi did not practice with a knee. Chris Ivory with a hamstring did not practice. Sheldon Richardson with his shoulder did not practice. And then guys that were limited today: Quinton Coples, ankle. Kenrick Ellis, back, Clyde Gates, knee, Santonio Holmes, foot, Dee Milliner, hamstring and Kellen Winslow, knee. Those guys were limited today.

Opening Statement?

Today, like I said, we?re ahead of most Wednesdays and we should be. We had more days of preparation getting ready for this. It was a pretty good day, quick tempo. I don?t know if we can match the tempo that Buffalo?s offense has with their no-huddle, but we?re certainly giving it a shot. All last week we got ready to play New England with their tempo, probably faster than anybody in the league, and then they came out and they slowed it up on us. But either way, we?ll be ready for it. They certainly present some problems with their personnel. And we talked about it a little last time, but Stevie Johnson?s a unique guy. He?s a good receiver. (He) kind of gets off the line of scrimmage a little different than guys. (He) has his own style. He?s a tremendous player. And then obviously the two-headed monster in the backfield with Fred Jackson and then the Clemson product, C.J. Spiller - by the way, I think Clemson?s getting ready to be Tailback U. (joking) I?m just saying, because the other kid?s (Andre Ellington) starting for Arizona I saw. But either way, throwing that plug aside, injury wise we had (Bilal) Powell did not practice today, he was illness. So no injury there, it was illness related. I guess you could still tag a shoulder on there but it was the illness that kept him out of practice today. Then we had these players (who) were limited today: Quinton Coples with his ankle, Kenrick Ellis, back, Santonio Holmes, foot, Sheldon Richardson, shoulder, Kellen Winslow, knee and Jeremy Kerley was not out there I think when you guys were there but he practiced full, so he?s been cleared medically and that?s why he was out there full today. They have a great front seven. Those guys are active. I think the one game I saw, Mario Williams had about four, five sacks, so that was impressive. They have a few guys down in the secondary, but for the most part those guys have played well. They made it tough on quarterbacks. They play a ton of press coverage and you can tell they can run. I mean those guys are active. The back end is smart. So, they?re going to present a challenge for us.

I think based on (Jeremy) Kerely?s injury we had to go with what we had. We had many opportunities with the defense forcing a lot of three and outs on the Patriots, that there was a chance I?d played a lot. We just had to play what we had in order to give ourselves a chance to win the ball game.

Today, we get that bonus practice and you?re looking at new calls, trying to get your team familiar with a new opponent, so I think that?s good. (We) got a head start on tape with our team, so I think that was pretty good. Obviously, we won?t really get the entire game plan in until?Wednesday?but we do have a head start. So we did a lot of that, in particular on defense, emphasize the red zone and some personnel groupings, so that?s kind of what we did. Then offensively, we did a little blitz pickup, then we did a seven-on-seven and some other things. I think we got a good start, even on special teams. So we used it to get a jump on Buffalo and hopefully that helps us. Injury-wise, we?ll have a full injury report?on Wednesday?for you so anything I can give you now is probably incomplete but I think we?re getting healthy.

On if Muhammad Wilkerson, Quinton Coples and Jeremy Kerley will be able to play?Sunday?

I don?t know about all of those guys, but we?ll see how it goes. Certainly, they?re getting closer. I can see (they?re) definitely getting closer. Again, I think when you?re looking at Kerley?s situation, obviously (he) had the concussion, so there are a bunch of different hoops that he?s got to go through, different doctors and all that kind of stuff. With Quinton, he just had surgery like three weeks ago but I know he has been doing an unbelievable job in his rehab. That would be something if we can get him back. I?m not sure how possible that is, but we?ll see. I think the list?on Wednesday?will give guys time because guys are pushing it. We?ll see how they do, how they come in?on Wednesday, but like I said, I think for a team that just played two games in five days, I think we?re doing pretty decent, though, health-wise.

Really just watching the game, obviously there?s some frustration in the fact that we didn?t pull it out. We had some opportunities there, clearly, but you have to give New England credit because they made enough plays at the end of the game to win it and were able to turn the ball over and that was obviously critical. There were a lot of guys playing really well on both sides of the ball. In particular, I think our defense played extremely well. Any time you force (a) New England team to punt more than they have first downs, I think even though as I understand most of the credit?s going elsewhere, I think some of the credit should be going to our team.

On if Dawan Landry pulled up on Vincent Jackson because on the long play late in the game out of concern for drawing a penalty because he might have miss the target area for defenders?

No, I think the big thing there is he is the last line of defense. He?s looking at it that he?s just trying to get the guy down. The kid makes a great move. He really came up and wrapped them up and pressed his hip and everything else. You?re not anticipating the guy to spin out of that when he?s running full speed at you. He just made a great run, (it?s) unusual. When you tackle somebody in the open field, you?re trying to face him up and you?re trying to wrap him, which is what he did. At the end of the day, you try to press your hip on the side. I know most guys, ?Hey, you hit through the guy, yeah absolutely.? But in the open field, you just try to square him up and get him down. You don?t care if they run you over. You?ve just got to get him down. The kid makes an unbelievable play and spins out of it. Landry is an outstanding tackler. Obviously, there we need to do whatever we can knowing your guys are coming behind you. Clearly, we blow the coverage. We put him in a terrible situation where he?s in space with a good football player. But we?re just fortunate Demario is able to run him down.

No, I wasn?t looking for it. Actually, just playing situational football. We had enough time there where I could scramble, get out of bounds, (and) at least get past mid field. Give us a chance to get a field goal off. It was bad on their part, on that guy?s part to cause that penalty, but it was good for us. First off, with the quarterback situation, obviously nothing new there. What I can tell you is that Mark (Sanchez) did not practice today. As far as injuries are concerned, I just prefer to discuss the injury updates?on Wednesday?when we?ll announce them then. Mark (Sanchez) did not practice today. Santonio (Holmes) did get some work in today, which is good to see. With that, it was a bonus really in preparation for Tampa Bay, and (we did) not put in a whole lot of the game plan on either side of the ball or special teams, but (we) did get a few things in, some unusual things, that they do offensively, defensively. (We) just got some early looks at them, and that?s really what we focused on. For that, it was good. They flew around pretty (well). (We) started outside and then I had to move it inside when I guess lightning was in the area. One other thing, we did add a few new players. You guys have that list because there?s no way I?m going to try to pronounce big Ben?s (Ijalana) last name, so you guys figure that one out. But this is something we?ve talked about with John (and I) on improving the roster. If we feel there are some guys out there who can help us and improve our football team, then we?re certainly going to look at that. This is probably an example of that, adding four players to our football team.

On playing next to Nick Mangold compared to Maurkice Pouncey?

Pouncey, is just a different animal, he is extremely athletic, can run for days.? You know the only similarity between the two is they are very, very knowledgeable, with what going on around them.? There is not to many blitzes that they can?t pick up or don?t see.? Nicks mental game is out of this world.? I have been so impressed with his level of communication and how he directs us at the line.? He is a leader out there and he is the reason that we have success, he is the key reason for that.

On how his ankle feels after today?s practice?

Things are feeling good. I?ve been getting progressively better. I?m feeling pretty good. (I) was able to go out there and push this week and get some good work in.

On if his ankle caused him to have any limitations in practice?

On what he is looking to accomplish against Jacksonville?

Just improve on some of the things from the last preseason game. Be real sharp with our personnel stuff and continue to improve as a team. I think we?re on the right track and I think the (games) are a good test for us to see the depth of our roster (and) what guys are going to help us come fall.

Opening statement?

That was a beautiful December day today (joking). Without question had to be the coldest training camp day I?ve ever been a part of, that?s about thirty years worth. That was interesting and I showed up like this in shorts, quickly said Vito (Contento) I need a raincoat or something, but man that was chilly. Almost as chilly as the offensive performance today. Not a good day at all for the offense so obviously we have to straighten at lot of things out before we play the game against Jacksonville. So (I?m) disappointed. I thought we had been doing some good things out there. It was a good day for the defense, bad day for the offense. I don?t know what else to say about it. We had a couple injuries, (Robert) Malone was held out, we had Kenrick Ellis again held out, he was on a bike today. I saw Santonio (Holmes) out there some, (Clyde) Gates looked like he did pretty good today. Joe (McKnight) again, still no update on Joe, so you guys know what we?re going to say there. Other than that I?ll go ahead and open it up for questions.

On if Geno Smith still has to prove he can perform in live situations??

On if there is more speed on defense?

It?s very noticeable. For one, you have guys running to the ball, soaring to the ball and that?s all that we?re trying to do. When you?re keeping things simple and making sure guys can go out there and play full speed, it makes things a lot easier for guys (to) go out there and go play full speed.

On what he?s seen from Chris Ivory in his last two practices?

We finally get him out there and he looks good. He looks like what we always thought we were getting. Just a big back that?s physical. Good vision. I really like his running style. As far as the protection, the good thing is he was doing the mental part, so he?s picked up the protections better. It was just a matter of getting him on the practice field. But certainly, he has that kind of talent, that vision, that burst and that power. We really won?t see that power until we start tackling, but believe me it?s there.

On why Kenrick Ellis did not practice today?
