Now Commenting On:

UConn coach Kevin Ollie has NBA pedigree.

He spent over a decade in the professional ranks as a player before coming to UConn four years as ago as an assistant to Jim Calhoun. Ollie may have been a first-time head coach at UConn, but this is little doubt he would be in demand in the NBA. Ollie has helped tutor a young LeBron James while in Cleveland and also was an important piece to the development of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Who says?

Kevin Durant.

Below is an interview with Grantland's Bill Simmons where he credits Ollie, a backup guard who played only 25 games with the franchise at 37 years old as the man who got everything rolling.

Here's Durant's interview with the Ollie mention around the 8 minutes mark. Ollie had an offer to stay on in OKC as an assistant when he came back home to UConn to join Calhoun's staff.
