Touted as one of the best pure athletes in all of college football, Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds continues to rack up touchdowns. The senior signal-caller, who is chasing former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball for the most career FBS touchdowns, recorded three more Saturday afternoon to close the gap.
Reynolds rushed for touchdowns in the first, second and fourth quarters on Saturday to give himself an astounding 73 career rushing scores and now sits just four shy of Ball’s mark. In addition to his achievements on the ground against the Huskies, Reynolds also tossed a touchdown pass to help propel Navy to a 3-0 mark.
While Navy moved the football with relative ease, UConn struggled to find any rhythm on the offensive side of the football for most of the afternoon.
Quarterback Bryant Shirreffs did toss touchdown passes to Tyraiq Beals (second quarter) and Tommy Myers (fourth quarter), but Navy had created an insurmountable lead throughout the game.
The loss was UConn’s second straight after last weekend’s 9-6 defeat to Missouri, and it now drops the Huskies to .500 at 2-2 overall.
The Huskies travel to No. 22 BYU next weekend for a showdown with the Cougars.
