1:10 p.m.: The Big East and UConn have held discussions about a possible return to the collegiate conference, Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports reported Wednesday. The potential return to the Big East would encompass all UConn sports, with the exception of football which has no participants in the league.
"The Big East would take UConn in everything, but they need to resolve what they're going to do with football," one source said. "That's the only thing that's standing in the way of a marriage."
UConn was a founding member of the old Big East in 1979 before it was reorganized in 2013 into the Big East Conference and American Athletic Conference, which includes football.
