Down 15 points to St. John's the Huskies rallied again to take a two point lead in the final five minutes.
The Huskies couldn't ward St. John's off however.
Jakkar Sampson scored 18 points despite playing most of the second half with four fouls as St. John's held off UConn 71-65 at MSG.
The Huskies continued to struggle offensively shooting only 30.8 percent from the floor and scoring only 20 points in the first half. UConn managed to make 10 3-pointers, which kept the game with distance but was 10 of 37 from 2-point range and actually took 28 3-pointers.
Omar Calhoun led the Huskies with 24 points while Shabazz Napier, who came off the bench after a violation of team rules, added 14 for the Huskies. Ryan Boatright had five points on 1 of 8 shooting.
The Huskies, which had won two straight overtime games, fell to 15-6 on the season, 5-4 in the Big East.
