Stanford retained the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press poll released Monday by the same nine-point margin it held last week.

As it was a week ago, the Cardinal received 21 first-place votes to the Huskies' 17. Baylor got the final first-place vote.

As far as this former AP voter's top 10, it remains unchanged from a week ago.

1. Stanford (6-0). No challenges for Cardinal until trip to South Carolina and Tennessee Dec. 19 and 22.

2. UConn (5-0). The Huskies have a warmup for next week's matchups with Maryland and Penn State against Colgate Wednesday.

3. Baylor (5-1). All-American Odyssey Sims has not played since being injured against Stanford.

4. Duke (4-0). The Blue Devils visit Michigan before hosting unbeaten California Sunday.

5. Notre Dame (4-0). Does anyone in South Bend know there's a top-5 women's basketball team in town?

6. Penn State (5-0). Lady Lions have a tough one Thursday at Miami, Fla.

7. Louisville (6-0). Cardinals waiting for in-state showdown next week against Kentucky.

8. Georgia (7-0). Bulldogs should roll through easy December schedule.

9. Kentucky (4-1). Wildcats waiting for in-state showdown next week against Louisville.

10. Maryland (3-1). Tough road trip for Terrapins on deck -- at Nebraska Wednesday, at UConn next Monday.

UConn updateSophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis did not practice Monday as she recovers from a concussion suffered on Saturday late in the win over No. 14 Purdue. She is doubtful to play Wednesday against Colgate and she will continue to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Mosqueda-Lewis is averaging 16.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in five games. ... Freshman Breanna Stewart was named to the Big East honor roll after earning MVP honors at the Paradise Jam. She averaged 19.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in wins over Wake Forest, Marist, and Purdue. John's senior Shenneika Smith was chosen the Big East Player of the Week after averaging 21.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in wins over Iona and Hartford. Notre Dame's Jewell Loyd was selected the Big East Freshman of the Week after averaging 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in wins over Mercer and No. 19 UCLA.
