The Huskies last played Kentucky in the 2011 Final Four, a UConn win.
The matchup is one that few picked at the beginning of the tourney. Kentucky was an eight seed and coming off a loss to Florida in the SEC tournament. UConn was busy losing to Louisville for the third time.
The opponent has done the opponents' dirty work. Kentucky beat Louisville in the Sweet 16, and UConn, of course, beat Florida earlier Saturday.
It is the highest seeded Final Four in NCAA history with a No. 7 and No. 8 seed and also the first NCAA tourney since 1966 that is between two teams that didn't make the NCAAs the year before. A year ago, UConn was banned, and Kentucky was blown out at Robert Morris in an NIT game.
Kentucky is 15-1 over its last three NCAA tournaments with UConn the lone team to beat them.
