STORRS, Conn. -- The aftershocks of UConn's 66-62 win over Michigan State came over the Atlantic from Germany on Monday with the Huskies entering the Associated Press Top 25.

UConn, a team picked by many to finish in the bottom of the Big East, checked in at No. 23 this week after a stunning upset of Michigan State last Friday.

The Huskies were also the leading vote getter in also receiving votes in the coaches poll. UConn coach Kevin Oille wasn't aware of the ranking until he was told my writers after practice on Monday.

"We are just going to be UConn. Whatever that is, you can write that, we are going to go out and play with effort," Ollie said. "I have been saying that from day 1 and am not going to chance. Whatever position we are going to be in that is the position, we can't control that. we can't control being in the top 25 and it really doesn't matter to me. we want to go out and play UConn basketball and play with pride, sacrificing for each other, fastbreak defending and rebounding. That's what we hang our hats on."

The Huskies are of course ineligible for postseason play due to a ban for poor Academic Progress. UConn plays Vermont on Tuesday.
