Perhaps the Huskies were buoyed by the performance of the men's basketball team?

Whatever got into UConn on Friday night they need to bottle it and save it. The Huskies exploded to a 24-0 halftime lead over Pittsburgh showcasing an explosive offense, big play special teams and a dominating defense in the process.

No one saw this coming. Chandler Whitmer is 11 of 15 for 149 yards passing and a touchdown. His top target is Ryan Griffin, who has six catches for 84 yards and a score. the running game averaging just a hair under 5.0 yards per carry and Lyle McCombs had 66 yards and a touchdown in the first half.

The special teams got into the act too with Nick Williams, a week after a combined 10 kickoffs and punts weren't even returned, had an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown. Everything is working for the Huskies who have scored 24 points, three times as many points as it came in averaging in the Big East.

Pittsburgh remains in South Bend mentally. The Panthers have 121 yards of total offense and the highlight was a missed field goal that hit the upright. Huskies are doing a great job on the Pittsburgh running game holding Ray Graham to 17 yards on seven carries. Tino Sunseri has been rattled and is 8 of 18 for 107 yards. He is among the most efficient passers in the nation, but can't get anything going today at Rentschler Field.
