Napheesa Collier scored 23 points and had five steals as the No. 1 Huskies romped the No. 5 Bruins, 78-60, in Los Angeles on Tuesday night to hand UCLA its first loss of the season.
Collier added seven rebounds and shot 9-for-15 from the field to lead the team in both points and field goal attempts. Gabby Williams and Crystal Dangerfield also excelled in the victory, with the former finishing just two points shy of a double-double. Williams had 11 rebounds and three steals in what was a great defensive effort for the Huskies. Dangerfield finished second in points with 17 on the night.
Megan Walker came off the bench and notched 13 points to go along with three rebounds as the lone substitute for UConn. Katie Lou Samuelson was sidelined due to a foot injury.
UConn takes on Michigan State in Eugene, Oregon as part of the Nike PK 80 Phil Knight Invitational on Saturday.
