HARTFORD, Conn.  -- UConn is leading Rutgers at the half thanks to the play of Shabazz Napier with 9 points and DeAndre Daniels with 7 points.

The Huskies are holding Rutgers to 36 percent shooting and are winning the battle of the boards 18-14.

The catalyst is Napier, who is still favoring his left shoulder but is producing in spite of it. Napier, under control and confident, has nine points, five rebounds and three assists on an under control 4 of 6 shooting. Napier is 1 of 2 from 3-point range and is attacking the defense.

Daniels has also been effective with seven points on 3 of 6 shooting while Niels Giffey has played extended minutes in the half at 12 and has one basket and a couple of steals. Giffey is blending in well on the offense, laying good defense and is a good chemistry player though his stats don't show it.

The Huskies went big for a stretch with Daniels playing small forward and Tyler Olander and Enosch Wolf both in the lineup.
