Last week, that machine was rusty. A few worn parts and a lack of synchronization led to the Giants' offense to be off by just a hair in the opener vs the Dallas Cowboys. They missed on some big plays and took themselves out of some others.
"Execution. Make the plays when the plays are available to you. Be smarter, be the smarter team." - Head coach Tom Coughlin on what he's emphasizing to the team this week?
"Yeah. I haven?t slept well, so I think we all are itching to get back on the field. Definitely got a lot of work to do on the practice field. Had a great practice today as far as turning the page. We?ve been in this situation before." - DE Justin Tuck after having some days off after losing the opener to Dallas
"Good afternoon. Still disappointed, that hasn?t changed. I think the players are very somber; they are remorseful because of an opportunity lost. We had many opportunities that we didn?t take advantage of. We didn?t play well, Dallas played better than we played. We created opportunities for ourselves late in the game, but we weren?t able to capitalize on them. We lacked consistency; we lacked fundamental technique play at the position with consistency pretty much everywhere. I was positive about our special teams play. I think that with our kickoff return team, we do have the possibility of going forward there, and establishing some opportunities in the return game. We did have a nice punt return as well, which was called back due to a penalty, and the penalty was legitimate.
Otherwise, offensively we were sloppy with technique, we were not consistent at all, we had dropped balls. We had some opportunities in the run game, but we didn?t seem to be able to push the line of scrimmage enough to crack the runner through the line of scrimmage. We?ll continue to work on that. We?re still very disappointed, obviously, in the goal line aspect of our game, with the ball on the one-yard line and the inability to score. Simple fact of the matter is, defensively, they score three of the four times they had the ball in the second half. That is a concern.
"Take a bite out of humble pie is basically what it is. It brings you right back to earth. There won?t be any blowing smoke up their rear ends as far as that. Last year is last year and this year is this year. Every team is a new team, every year is a new year, we have our work cut out for us, it?s a great challenge for us now. I think?Michael Coe?injured a hamstring again, so there is another corner we?re staring at being down. But we?ve rubbed salt in it right now and I think that hopefully the competitive nature of our guys comes out and we come out swinging." - head coach Tom Coughlin on his postgame message to the team
"Just to be a little bit more crisp in what we are doing, what we are representing. Understand what is going to be thrown at us. Understand that we have to capture opportunities when they present themselves. And we will get better, we will get better. Practice will be a little bit more crisp, a little bit more focused, a little more sharp. You know, we?ll do that." - Safety Antrel Rolle on Coughlin's postgame message

It was anything but a setup. Dallas outhustled and outplayed the defending champs in front of the whole world last night. The game was a winnable one, but the the Giants didn't do much to help themselves in the 24-17 reality check at the hands of their most hated rivals.
"Very disappointing, very disappointing loss," said Tom Coughlin after the game. "Any way you want to look at it. We fumble the ball after a nice drive that possibly could have been points, we don?t score from the one-yard line. We give up big plays in the second half. We don?t really stop the run, they had all kinds of yardage, we had little or none. We gave ourselves a chance there at the end of the game, it just took way too much time for us to score. And then obviously 3rd and 11 or 12, whatever that was, we couldn?t stop it. We had trouble stopping the slant all night long like we?ve never seen a slant before. Very, very frustrating. It hurts to come in and be playing at home and playing a game of this nature opening the season to play the way we played, and we certainly are capable of playing a lot better."

Throughout the summer, New York Giants? head coach Tom Coughlin encouraged his team to ?Build A Bridge? to last year, when it was about being ?All In? and making sure to ?Finish.?
Forget finishing, the Giants (0-1) couldn?t even start well, while allowing their underdog and hated NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys (1-0) to waltz into MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford and walk away with a season-opening 24-17 upset victory.

WR Hakeem Nicks returned to practice yesterday. Tom Coughlin said he will be bringing Nicks along slowly and did not know if he would play in the upcoming preseason games Friday vs Chicago or Wednesday vs New England.
Coughlin said he had very little information about the injury to RB Ahmad Bradshaw's hand, which suffered a contusion in the game vs the Jets last Saturday.Bradshaw practiced, but his participation was limited. Rookie RB David Wilson will begin seeing more time with the first team, Coughlin said.

It?s time to start paying attention to Will Hill if you?re a Giants fan. ?He has been getting a ton of reps with the 1?s, and extra reps with the 2?s. ?It?s clear that the coaching staff really likes him. ?And how do I know that? ?Because they yell at him a lot. ?Before the play, during the play, after the play, you name it. ??Be physical Will! ?Jam him up Will! ?Jam him up!? ?If they didn?t like him, he?d be running with the 3?s. ?
They?ve been using him a lot in the box, and today he covered the slot receivers and TEs quite a bit. ?He may very well play a big role for the Giants? defense this year, ?especially with the uncertainty of Terrell Thomas? knee. ?At all 32 camps, reporters are prefacing questions by first saying ?The NFL is changing with the usage of more athletic tight ends like Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez?? and then they finish their question, usually asking how you stop those two TE sets. ?If there hasn?t already been that question posed with Will Hill in mind already, there will be soon. ?Here?s some tape of Hill in college at Florida against Georgia. ?He had himself a game:
