The Vancouver Canucks had a rough start to the season. After winning their first four games, they lost nine straight and were shut out four times in the process.

But as the Canucks prepare to take on the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night, there's much more hope than there was a month ago.

The Canucks are 7-4-1 in their past 12 games as the embark on a five-game trip that could push them closer to a playoff spot in the West. They are four points out of a wild-card spot, partly because of the weakened conference, but that doesn't matter to the players, who are finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

The Canucks go for their first three-game winning streak of the season Tuesday night in their first meeting with the New York Rangers since their trade earlier this month.

This visit includes Emerson Etem's return to MSG after being dealt by the Rangers for forward Nicklas Jensen and a draft pick Jan. 8. It was the second time in roughly six months the right wing was traded, going to New York from Anaheim over the summer.

Etem had three assists in 19 games with the Rangers.

The range of emotions last night was stark. Early in the third period the team was laughing on the bench, enjoying what was at that point, a very good effort.
Then, the?Ryan Nugent-Hopkins?goal?opened up a pandora's box and the game snowballed out of control.

Some may think the sky is falling.

Take a deep breath and say this three times: "It's only three games."
