Two of the Mets highest ranked prospects continue to shine in Double-A Binghamton. Jett Williams and Ryan Clifford combined to go 5-for-9 with three RBI and two runs scored in a win over Richmond on Saturday night.

Tylor Megill lamented the walks and his error that opened the door for Tampa Bay to put up five runs in the fourth inning on their way to an 8-4 win. He also knows he has to be better with his two-strike execution which was lacking on Saturday.

For the second straight game, the Mets saw the Rays put together a big inning by taking advantage of the their shaky defensive play. Manager Carlos Mendoza knows from his experience as a Yankees coach in the same division with Tampa Bay that "you can't give them extra outs." Mendoza also touched on Tylor Megill's sub-par performance, feeling he tried to be "too perfect" instead of attacking the hitters the way he has been this season.

Mets starter Tylor Megill was roughed up by the Rays, allowing six  runs and seven hits in an 8-4 loss. Megill contributed to Tampa's five-run fourth inning with a fielding error. Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio each homered for New York.

Mets pitching prospect Will Watson is making people take notice after a dominant performance on Friday night for Brooklyn, striking out eight hitters in 4.2. innings. Watson was the Mets seventh-round pick in 2024, displayed a good pitching repertoire, effectively shutting down his Asheville opponents.

After his last start in Colorado, Mets starter Clay Holmes was more "sore" than at any point this season since his transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation. He and manager Carlos Mendoza capped his pitch count at 85 as a precaution and feels it will benefit him going forward. Paul Blackburn relieved Holmes but allowed four runs in an eventual Tampa Bay comeback win. Blackburn admitted having difficulty finding a good "routine" in the bullpen but conceded that he left some pitches up and "they didn't miss them."

The normally reliable Paul Blackburn and Max Kranick were hit hard in the sixth inning, turning a 5-1 Mets lead into a 7-5 defeat after allowing six runs. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza thought Blackburn's stuff was "flat" and Kranick left too many pitches over the plate. Mendoza did have some good news to report about Kodai Senga's hamstring injury, which has been diagnosed as a "low grade strain" and he will be re-evaluated in two weeks time.

It was a rare off-night for the Mets bullpen as they squandered a 5-1 lead, falling to Tampa Bay 7-5. Paul Blackburn allowed four runs in the fateful sixth inning and Rays catcher Danny Jansen capped off the six-run inning with a two-run homer off Max Kranick that gave the Rays the lead for good. Starling Marte was the lone bright spot for the Mets, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
