SNY Contributor Joe DeMayo says that the Mets are taking a "home run swing" on the potential of hard-throwing right hander Carson Wiggins as their No. 1 pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. Wiggins missed the entire collegiate season at Arkansas but is now 100-percent healthy, touching 97 mph at the recent MLB Combine. He projects as a number three starter or an elite reliever according to DeMayo.

The Mets had two of their players rehabbing with AA Binghamton on Sunday, as both Marcus Semien and Luis Robert Jr. were in action as they prepare for a return to the big league roster. Semien homered for one of his two hits on the day, and Robert Jr. picked up two hits of his own. Also, Mets prospect Chris Suero was driving the ball all over the field today, as he homered and doubled in the same game for Binghamton.

It should come as no surprise that power pitcher Carson Wiggins was on the Mets radar as the 2026 MLB Draft approached. VP of Amateur Scouting Kris Gross and Scouting Director Drew Toussaint loved his size, athleticism and family background even though an arm injury kept him sidelined for Arkansas' college season. Gross detailed what made Wiggins a tremendous prospect including, hitting triple digits with his fastball and the improvement of his secondary pitches.

Interim Mets manager Andy Green pointed to the Mets going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position as the most disappointing aspect of their 4-0 loss to Boston. He felt they had some opportunities despite registering just three hits but never got the timely knock when they needed it. Starter Freddy Peralta was equally frustrated on the mound, walking five batters and failing to get out of the fifth inning. He touched on a balance issue that seemed to throw him off his rhythm after the first two innings. Peralta: "It's a terrible feeling."

Following the Yankees' 6-1 loss against the Twins on Sunday, manager Aaron Boone discussed what he is seeing as the Yankees suffer their ninth loss in their last ten games. Also, starting pitcher Ryan Weathers spoke on his rough day on the mound, Cody Bellinger gave an assessment on the team's struggles, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. gave an update on his toe injury as he exited Sunday's after five innings.

Warren said the team must get back on track following the day off, while Jazz said "we make a lot of mistakes and I feel like we beat ourselves."

The Yankees' struggles continued on Monday night, losing their fifth game in a row to the Detroit Tigers 7-3. Starter Ryan Weathers didn't make it out of the second inning, allowing five runs and watched the team's offense mange just three hits. Adding to their woes was a collision between Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jasson Dominguez on a pop up that has Chisholm Jr. in concussion protocol. Manager Aaron Boone and veteran OF Cody Bellinger says the team has no choice but to grind through this brutal stretch.
