Luke Weaver took a deep breath before talking to the media after shutting down his former team in the Mets 6-3 win. Weaver dodged a huge moment in the seventh inning, retiring three straight Yankees with the bases loaded and nobody out. OF Juan Soto and 1B Mark Vientos were duly impressed by Weaver's magic act  but Soto also gave a shout out to Vientos for his clutch hitting with the game on the line

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza admitted the clubhouse was shaken by the injury to Clay Holmes on Friday night but proud of their response in Saturday's 6-3 win. Mendoza praised the work of the bullpen, especially Luke Weaver's performance in the seventh inning when he escaped from a bases loaded no-out jam. He also praised Mark Vientos' three-RBI night that enabled the Mets to stretch their lead.

The Mets No. 19 prospect Randy Guzman flexed his muscle on Saturday night for St. Lucie, ripping a three-run HR with an exit velocity of 117 mph in a 7-6 win. Promising OF Nick Morabito drove home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning of a 6-2 Syracuse victory.
