The Mets had several chances to win in extra innings after a dramatic three-run rally in the ninth inning to tie the game at five but manager Carlos Mendoza said, "we needed the last one and we didn't get it." Mendoza lamented the team's failure to make adjustments at the plate and continually hitting ground balls that failed to produce the winning run.

Jeff McNeil thought the team took some really good at-bats and played hard but came up short in their 13-inning loss to the Dodgers. McNeil's two-run triple in the ninth inning helped the Mets tie the game and send it to extras. Brandon Nimmo aggravated a neck injury he originally sustained in 2019 and removed himself after one at-bat.
