Teammate Kyrie Irving feels Simmons will help keep the ball moving on offense and get Brooklyn away from relying on isolation.

It was a rare off-night for the Mets bullpen as they squandered a 5-1 lead, falling to Tampa Bay 7-5. Paul Blackburn allowed four runs in the fateful sixth inning and Rays catcher Danny Jansen capped off the six-run inning with a two-run homer off Max Kranick that gave the Rays the lead for good. Starling Marte was the lone bright spot for the Mets, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
