Prior to the series opener against Colorado, Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor told manager he would be available to pinch-hit, despite his broken toe. All he did was come through in a big way, lacing a double to right which scored the two go ahead runs in the 4-2 win. Pete Alonso, whose two-run double put the Mets ahead briefly in the seventh inning, expressed his admiration for Lindor's willingness to play through whatever ails him. Mets starter Kodai Senga, who allowed just one run said simply, "Lindor is a superstar."

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza knew he would get one shot at using Francisco Lindor late in the game and the strategy worked to perfection as Lindor lined a two-run double in the ninth inning providing the Mets with a 4-2 win. Kodai Senga, who started and had to grind through six innings and a career-high 109 pitches, continues to produce "ace-like" outings. Mendoza praised Brett Baty for his potential game-saving double play in the eighth with bases loaded and nobody out.

Francisco Lindor came off the bench in the ninth inning, broken toe and all, and delivered a two-run double as the Mets won a thriller from the Rockies. Pete Alonso was the other hitting star, also lining a two-run double in the seventh inning only to see Colorado come back to tie the game, setting the stage for Lindor's heroics.

Mets pitching prospects Brandon Sproat and Jack Wenninger both provided plenty of excitement in their outings on Friday night. Sproat was the picture of efficiency, striking out four and scattering five hits over six innings of shutout ball. Wenninger on the other hand struck out nine, including six in a row at one point but was also touched up for five earned runs.
