It was a rough night for Mets starter Tylor Megill who allowed four earned runs, walking five while failing to get out of the third inning in a 6-2 loss to the Yankees. Offensively, the Mets weren't much better, mustering just five hits and two runs off Carlos Rodon and the Yankees bullpen. Juan Soto made his return to Yankee Stadium and was soundly booed throughout the night.

Carlos Rodon had to grind out his win over the Mets but got plenty of offensive help and assistance from the bullpen. Cody Bellinger was one of the hitting stars, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

When Yankees first baseman Ben Rice said hitting can definitely be "contagious," he wasn't kidding. The offense exploded for 10 runs in the seventh inning as they turned a one-run game into a 12-3 rout of San Diego. Austin Wells belted a grand slam and had five RBI, Rice had a pair of hits and two RBI. Starter Clarke Schmidt allowed just two runs over six innings and got to talk a little smack with former teammate Michael King after the Yankees win.

Aaron Judge spoke with the media after the Yankees' 7-5 loss to the Rays at Yankee Stadium on Sunday to discuss the disappointment in losing a series to a division rival, while Cody Bellinger touched on his feelings of accomplishment after hitting his 200th career home run.

Aaron Judge and Austin Wells both hit solo home runs but the rest of the lineup couldn't solve Rays starter Zack Littell in the Yankees 3-2 loss. Manager Aaron Boone and lead-off man Cody Bellinger both credited Littell with keeping the hitters guessing. Boone lamented the fateful eighth inning when Tampa mustered a two-run rally to take the lead saying their hits "had eyes." Starter Ryan Yarbrough pitched into the fifth  inning allowing just one hit but walking three batters which he said "was not the start I was looking for."

Max Fried tossed seven innings of one-hit ball and Paul Goldschmidt provided all the offense the Yankees would need with a three-run homer as they shut out the Rays 3-0. Fried complimented batterymate Austin Wells for keeping him focused while Goldschmidt felt he began to rebound at the plate towards the end of last season and it has carried over to the Bronx.
