Jeff Gorton said on Saturday that he has had "lengthy" discussions with four of the Rangers five arbitration eligible RFAs.

The players he has spoken with include Jimmy Vesey, Brady Skjei, Vlad Namestnikov and Kevin Hayes.

Gorton said that he intends to speak with Ryan Spooner's agents this week.

Vladislav Namestnikov's agent told a Russian news outlet that the Rangers forward will not play for Russia at the World Championships as he recovers from an injury. (Tass)

Namestnikov had reportedly been dealing with a shoulder injury since the end of the end of the season and Ranger team doctors told him recently that it takes 2-3 weeks to fully recover. (Tass, Tass)

His agent noted that Namestnikov wanted to play for the Russian team and the fact that he is an RFA and without a contract did not play a role in his decision not to play. (Tass)

4/12/18 | Larry Brooks noted back in March that Kevin Hayes, Vlad Namestnikov and Ryan Spooner are all arbitration eligible RFAs closing in on being unrestricted free agents. (NY Post)

Hayes and Spooner can become UFA following this season while Namestnikov, along with Jimmy Vesey, can become UFA after the 19-20 season.  (NY Post)

Brooks says that it's "extremely unlikely" that the Rangers bring back all three of them though he does note that Namestnikov and Spooner have seen a lot of time on the wing. (NY Post)

In his debut with the Rangers on Wednesday, Vladislav Namestnikov scored a goal and added an assist in the Rangers win over Vancouver.

Namestnikov played 17:57 with the Rangers, 1:39 on the PP and 5:55 in the first, 7:09 in the second, 4:01 in the third and 52 seconds in OT while skating between Jimmy Vesey and Mats Zuccarello.

He had 3 shots on goal, 1 shot attempt blocked, 1 shot that missed the net, 1, giveaway, 1 takeaway, 3 blocked shots and was 4 and 7 on faceoffs.
