Game 1- @ Jamestown Jammers 7, Brooklyn Cyclones 6

The Brooklyn Cyclones fell to the Jamestown Jammers 7-6, in the opening game of their best-of-three playoff series.? The Cyclones now have thier backs against the wall, as they need to win the next two games of the series, to stave of elimination in the NYPL semifinal series.?

The Cyclones jumped out to an early one-run lead, as Darrell Ceciliani (2-5, SB) singled, stole 2nd, then scored on a Jeff Flagg (3-5, 3B, 3RBI) triple in the 1st.? It would be the only lead of the game for the Cyclones, as Jamestown scored a run in the second, four in the third, and another in the fourth to?take a 6-1 lead and chase?Brooklyn starter, Yohan Almonte (4 IP, 5 hits, 6 runs, 5 er, 3 bb, 3 K).? Almonte, the NYPL ERA leader, was just not his normal self, as his control was not there.? He walked 3 and delivered a wild pitch in his 4 innings of work.? During the season Almonte only walked 15 batters in his 89 2/3 innings of work.?

Monday afternoon, the Brooklyn Cyclones released their initial roster of 2009.? Many more players will be added over the course of the season, perhaps even before Opening Night Friday, at home against the Staten Island Yankees.? To my eyes, it's currently one of the weaker Cyclones rosters in the last few years.

You can meet some of these Mets prospects on Tuesday and Wednesday.? Tuesday the team, the mascots, and the coaches will be at Prospect park, on the Long Meadow at the 9th St. entrance from 6 PM to 8 pm.? On Wednesday, the players will again be out at Borough Hall from 11:30-1:30 signing autographs and hanging out.

For every player, I will give, B/T, Ht/Wt, Date of Birth
