The Yankees received some positive news regarding Dellin Betances on Monday.

The right-handed reliever played catch for the first time since a shoulder impingement shut him down for a few days and he felt good, manager Aaron Boone said.

The 31-year-old remains in Tampa, Fla. as the team makes its way north for Opening Day on Thursday.

Betances, whose Spring Training was delayed by the birth of his son, will begin the season on the injured list.

The right-hander struggled to find his velocity in his Spring Training appearances, topping out around 91-92 mph instead of his usual 97-98 mph.

An MRI showed he had a right shoulder impingement and inflammation.

His recovery consists of anti-inflammatory medicine and rest.
