Manager Aaron Boone and the Yankees are working through all the options they can have for their 25-man roster leading up to the ALCS. They don't yet know their opponent with the Astros and Rays playing Game 5 of their ALDS on Thursday night, but the preparation begun ever since New York clinched the series sweep against the Twins on Monday night.
But when exactly do they need to decide who will be on their roster?
The official deadline for the Yankees to get their 25-man roster in is actual the day of the game. Boone needs to have his roster in by 10 a.m., EST on Saturday.
So Boone has all day Friday as well to hammer out the final details of his roster. Two big questions is whether or not CC Sabathia or Aaron Hicks, who are now both healthy, will take over a slot. There is also figuring out what the starting rotation will be. Does Boone go with James Paxton, Masahiro Tanaka and Luis Severino again? What about when Game 4 rolls around?
There are many questions to consider, but there is ample time to iron everything out for the Yankees.
