With ex-analyst Aaron Boone becoming the Yankees' new manager, ESPN is expected to stick with a former Yankee as his replacement in Alex Rodriguez, per Sporting News' Michael McCarthy.
Rodriguez will only call the regular season games with the "Sunday Night Baseball" crew, while returning to Fox Sports to serve as an analyst when the postseason begins. This was made possible by Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox's assets for $60 billion, that includes all of Fox's regional sports networks.
A-Rod has generated good reviews since his transition from player to analyst. He will join a team that includes on-field reporter Buster Olney, co-analyst Ashley Mendoza, and it is reported ESPN will finalize a deal with Fox Sports and MLB Network's Matt Vasgersian to become the new play-by-play announcer for the program.
