In an effort to improve his defense, Yankees reliever Dellin Betances worked out in Florida last month to better that portion of his game, he told the New York Post.
Betances made three errors on 13 chances a season ago and said he has worked with pitching coach Larry Rothschild to make sure something like that doesn't happen again, especially on plays where he has to make a throw to a base.
"We pretty much worked on [pitchers' fielding practice],'' Betances said. "It was mutual. He wanted a couple of days and it helped me. I feel good right now. He gave me drills to do while I am in the DR. I will continue to work on it in spring training."
Betances was 3-6 with a 3.08 ERA last season, striking out 126 batters in 73 innings.
