Yankees general manager Brian Cashman isn't looking to call up top prospect Gleyber Torres to the majors anytime soon, according to Newsday's Erik Boland.
Torres was recently promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. However, Cashman isn't going to put Torres in pinstripes, regardless of injury or under-performance from any Yankees at the moment.
On his recent promotion, Cashman told Joel Sherman of the New York Post: "He checked every box necessary in that league [Eastern League}.
Not only is he the Yankees top prospect, but MLB.com has Torres ranked the No. 3 overall prospect in the league.
In 32 games with Double-A Trenton, he posted a .273 batting average with 10 doubles, five home runs and 18 RBI. He has played two games in Triple-A so far, having notched one hit in six at-bats.
