CC Sabathia will be activated off the IL and return to the Yankees' starting rotation on Sunday, says manager Aaron Boone.
Sabathia has been sidelined with right knee inflammation -- an injury that has been reoccurring over the past few seasons -- but he didn't seem to have any issues in his bullpen sessions, which have encouraged the Yankees enough to bring him back.
Sabathia has been out since July 31, where he got an injection in his knee and then began to rest up.
In his final season in the MLB, the 39-year-old is hoping to stay healthy through this second half, so he can make an impact in the postseason. At the moment, he owns a 4.78 ERA over 90.1 innings -- modest numbers in his 19th season.
Sabathia also returns to a Yankees rotation that is still trying to find consistency before their games in October come around.
