The Yankees are meeting with free agent pitcher Patrick Corbin Thursday, and interest between the two parties remains very strong, according to major league sources.
Corbin also has strong suitors in the Phillies and to some extent the Nationals, with whom he has already met this week. The Mets are on the periphery, because they would likely have to deal Noah Syndergaard before signing Corbin.
A person familiar with the process described Corbin's visits this week as informational, more getting-to-know you sessions than negotiations. But the sides will naturally talk about terms, and once that happens, an agreement can come together quickly.
Don't be surprised if Corbin chooses a team shortly, but he could also take the weekend to mull his options and negotiate. Either way, this is not a free agency expected to last deep into the offseason.
