Yankess INF prospect Thairo Estrada was among the latest roster cuts at Spring Training on Friday.
Estrada was sent down to Double-A Trenton, while RHP Jonathan Loaisiga and RHP Albert Abreu went to Single-A Tampa.
The Yankees announced that they sent RHP Cale Coshow, RHP Raynel Espinal, LHP Trevor Lane, C Chace Numata, LHP Justus Sheffield and RHP Dillon Tate to minor league camp on Thursday as well.
Sheffield, the Yankees' no. 3 prospect, posted a 3.12 ERA in 19 minor league starts in 2017. Sheffield, 21, is expected to start 2018 in Triple-A.
"I don't want him to rush the process. He's going to be a good one,'' manager Aaron Boone said of Sheffield.
The southpaw is looking to reach the majors before the end of 2018.
"My goal is to get to the Bronx this season," Sheffield said. "I'd love to see it happen. But that's up to me to execute."
Tate, the Yankees' no. 11 prospect, sported a 2.81 ERA in 13 starts with High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton.
"For me, health is the biggest thing," Tate said ahead of spring training. "I've played with Sheffield at Trenton and I've seen Chance throw and I think we can build on what everyone else is doing. That's what this spring is about for me, to learn from anyone I can."
