Nova Notes: Threw a season-high seven innings last time out against the Blue Jays, allowing three runs in a win. In three August starts, he is 2-1 with a 3.93 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. He has a 3.52 ERA during starts at Yankee Stadium this season. Nova has been victorious in four out of his last five outings.
Tomlin Notes: Allowed two runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings during his first start of the year last week. He is 2-2 with a 5.64 ERA in his career against the Yankees. In three appearances at Yankee Stadium, he is 0-2 with an 11.57 ERA. He had missed most of 2015, as he was recovering from right shoulder surgery.
Yankees Notes: After sweeping the Twins, the Yankees are 3-0 to start their 10-game homestand. Now have a 17-8 record against the American League Central. Went 1-2 against Cleveland during a three-game series last week. Greg Bird connected for his first two major league home runs on Wednesday. Jacoby Ellsbury is 13-for-32 in his last seven games.
Indians Notes: The Indians have lost four of their last five games, hitting .210 during this stretch. Are 20-39 against the Yankees since the start of 2007. Michael Brantley has a .457 average over his last 11 games. Francisco Lindor is has six hits in his last 13 at-bats.
