Nationals OF Bryce Harper will be one of the prized free agents on the market this offseason, and he had no interest Tuesday in discussing the potential of signing with the Yankees.
"I'm a National now," Harper told reporters when asked about donning pinstripes.
The 25-year-old Harper will be headlining a free agent class that is expected to include Manny Machado, Josh Donaldson, Dallas Keuchel, and potentially Clayton Kershaw (who can opt out of the two remaining years on his deal).
While Harper wouldn't discuss the possibility of joining the Yankees, another fair question is whether the Yankees will even be targeting him.
Starting pitching is arguably a much bigger need for the Yankees than offense. And if they do pursue one of the elite bats available, it could make more sense to go after Machado.
