The Yankees trail the Astros by 2.0 games for home field advantage throughout the American League playoffs, and they're also behind the Astros when it comes to their odds to win the Pennant and World Series.
According to odds released by Bovada, the Yanks have the second-best odds to represent the AL in the World Series and the third-best odds to win it all.
Pennant odds:
Astros -115
Yankees +215
Twins +700
Athletics +850
Rays +1200
Indians +2500
World Series odds:
Astros +215
Dodgers +275
Yankees +425
Braves +700
Cardinals +1000
Twins +1400
Nationals +1600
Athletics +2000
Rays +2800
Indians +3000
As things currently stand, the Yankees will face the Twins in the ALDS. And if that matchup happens, the Yanks -- currently 3.0 games better than Minnesota with three games to play -- will have home field advantage even if the two teams tie (by virtue of winning the season series four games to two).
If the Astros hold on to the top spot, they will face whoever emerges from the one-game Wild Card play-in. The Athletics and Rays are currently on track to clash, with the Indians 2.0 games back of the second Wild Card spot.
