Once the Yankees traded for Giancarlo Stanton, the collective imagination of the fanbase went wild with the thoughts of what a lineup containing Stanton, Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez and others would look like.
Well, turns out the players have been tantalized by that prospect too. Stanton, the reigning NL MVP, admitted he's already thought about it and can't wait for the team to get in sync.
"I already thought about the possibilities," Stanton said, via Steve Popper of the Record. "We just put it together. We won't be fully in sync until we all feel good up there. Judge's first day, me and Sanchez got a couple of days here and there. So later in spring when we're all in sync and feel good it'll be nice. You'll see more of the dynamic. Just kind of getting our AB's right now."
Judge, who went 0-2 in his spring training debut on Wednesday, says he's excited for Opening Day with this team.
"It's exciting," Judge said. "You just - the other team, you can't let your guard down with the type of players we have. I'm just happy I'm up there, I'm happy I'm in the two spot there. It's just fun. We've got a fun team, good guys to be around. I'm just excited for opening day."
Between Stanton, Judge, Sanchez and Didi Gregorius, the quartet hit 157 home runs in 2017. Judge is ecstatic about the hitters around him.
"Well, I'm surrounded by so many good players," Judge said. "I feel like the pressure is kind of off of me. I just have to go in there and get some quality at-bats, just do my job and help the team win in any way I can. I'm not too worried about stats and stuff like that. So I don't feel like we have a lot of pressure just because I'm surrounded by so many great players who'll pick me up."
