The Yankees pulled Luke Voit after four innings of Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Voit was hit by a Taylor Clarke breaking ball in the 1st inning, but he stayed in the game before eventually striking out in the third.
The Yankees announced later that Voit left the game with a core muscle injury and would have an MRI later in the night. Voit also sustained a core muscle injury earlier this season against the Red Sox in London, causing him to miss some time.
After the game, Aaron Boone told reporters that Voit had trouble getting loose before the game, and felt some discomfort after striking out.
He was replaced at first base by Gio Urshela, with Tyler Wade entering the game at third base.
The Yankees first baseman is hitting .278 on the season with 19 home runs and 54 RBI.
