Garcia tore through Double-A this season and has put himself on the radar for a potential call-up this season, but has struggled since being promoted to Triple-A, with a 6.63 ERA and 1.63 FIP in 19.0 innings (four starts).
The Yankees held on to Garcia and all of their other most highly thought of prospects at the trade deadline, with GM Brian Cashman later claiminig that prices were too exorbitant to meet for any of the higher-end starting pitchers on the market.
While Cashman stood pat at the deadline, he was willing to trade Garcia as part of what he considered the right deal (such as one for Noah Syndergaard).
Dominguez has been called a "teenage Mike Trout" and his addition helped bolster a Yankees farm system that is viewed by most as a bottom-third system in the league.
