Manny Machado is officially headed to sunny Los Angeles.
The now-former Orioles' shortstop will play for the Dodgers in the second half of the season, according to multiple reports. FanCred Sports' Jon Heyman says Baltimore will see a five-prospect return of OF Yusniel Diaz, RHP Dean Kremer, RHP Zach Pop, 3B Ryan Bannon, and INF Breyvic Valera.
Diaz was the Dodgers' No. 4 overall prospect, while Kremer was the team's No. 28 prospect.
The Yankees were among several teams with interest in Machado, who represented the Orioles in the All-Star Game on Tuesday night. According to SNY's Andy Martino, the Yankees could have acquired Machado if LHP Justus Sheffield was a part of the deal, but they were not willing to trade him.
The Phillies, Brewers, and Indians were also in the mix.
Machado, who is hitting .315 with 24 home runs and 65 RBI in 96 games, will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. The Dodgers now have an inside track to begin potential contract discussion with this trade.
