Yankees and Red Sox ownership would like the two teams to play in London in 2018, according to a report in the Boston Herald.
Both Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner and Red Sox owner John Henry have been open to the idea of having the two teams play in Europe. While nothing has been set, with the new collective bargaining agreement being ratified, the game could potentially be approved by next year.
Yankees president Randy Levine told the Herald that he would be thrilled by such a game.
"The Yankees have been at the forefront of suggesting that we bring the great game of baseball to London," Levin said. "There have been some meaningful attempts to do so, and we are hopeful and confident that we can play there soon. Playing the Red Sox in London would be a special and unique event."
The Yankees have played outside North America once, taking on the Rays in Tokyo in 2004.
