New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez will field grounders at first base during the All-Star break, according to the New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand.
Rodriguez plans to work with infield coach Joe Espada beginning on Friday, according to Feinsand. On Sunday, he took one of Mark Teixeira's first-base gloves on his way out of the clubhouse.
Rodriguez has only been a designated hitter this season. He played first base for a total of 9 2/3 innings last season, his only two appearances at first base in his career.
He had spent a majority of his career as a third baseman and shortstop before becoming New York's primary designated hitter in 2015.
