Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez has changed his mind and decided not to play in the World Baseball Classic this spring, reports WFAN's Sweeny Murti.
Sanchez had originally committed to playing for the Dominican Republic team. He will now be with the Yankees for the duration of Spring Training.
The 24-year-old catcher hit .299/.376/.657 with 20 home runs and 42 RBI in only 53 games played last season. Sanchez finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting.
