Yankees ace Luis Severino wouldn't mind another ace joining him in pinstripes -- especially Jacob deGrom, who is across town with the Mets.
"He's one of the greatest pitchers," Severino said on Monday at All-Star Game media day. "Great guy. He's awesome. ... if they trade him to the Yankees, I mean, that would be great."
The 30-year-old deGrom, who has been otherworldly for the Mets this season while posting a league-leading 1.68 ERA, has been the subject of trade rumors.
According to SNY's Andy Martino, the Mets are no longer focused on potentially trading deGrom and/or teammate Noah Syndergaard before the July 31 deadline, with them instead attempting to deal Zack Wheeler (who the Yankees have called about) or Steven Matz.
The above -- and the lack of a long-term extension -- isn't sitting well with deGrom's agent, who said on Monday that if the Mets aren't intent on signing deGrom long-term, they should seriously consider trading him.
The Yankees have been in search of rotation help, with them also connected to J.A Happ of the Blue Jays, and Michael Fulmer of the Tigers.
