After a strong start from Luis Severino, the Yankees surrendered six unanswered runs en route to a 7-6 loss to the Phillies on Thursday afternoon at Steinbrenner Field.
Making his 2018 Grapefruit League debut, Severino allowed one unearned run on three hits and one walk in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out three.
Didi Gregorius hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, with Erik Kratz, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez driving in the Yankees' remaining runs.
After Aroldis Chapman relieved Severino and struck out two of the three batters he faced, Justus Sheffield and Wade LeBlanc each allowed three earned runs to give the Phillies the lead.
