Yankees manager Joe Girardi says he intends to sit 3B Chase Headley on Saturday and Sunday in hopes that he breaks out of his slump, according to The Post.
"I just feel like [Headley] is in that situation where he's frustrated and trying too hard," Girardi said during his pregame availability on Saturday. "So I'll give him a day or two to work on some things and get back on track."
Headley is 2 for his last 26, recording hits against the Royals on May 23 and the Rays on May 20. In his last game against the Athletics on Friday evening, Headley went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
The third baseman is hitting .228 with three home runs and 20 RBI on the season thus far.
