Another Yankee has found their way to the IL, as the team announced 1B Luke Voit will head to the list with a sports hernia on Wednesday.
Voit sustained his injury last night during a strikeout, as he winced following a swing. He would leave the game with what the Yankees called a core muscle injury, and went for an MRI to see the damage.
Voit has been on the IL before, dating back to the beginning of the month when he hit the 10-day list with an abdominal strain. He suffered the injury during the London series with the Red Sox.
He's still played 94 games this season, owning a .278/.392/.493 with 19 home runs and 54 RBI.
David Hale also finds himself on the IL with a lumbar spine strain, retroactive to July 28.
These two Bombers join the likes of Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez, Brett Gardner, and CC Sabathia on the IL. The Yankees have obviously been tested since the beginning of the season with these injuries to key players, and they have been able to battle through the adversity.
The reinforcements this time around are INF Breyvic Valera and RHP Jonathan Holder.
